Discovering Blue Tahitian Pearls: A Unique Twist on Classic Elegance

Tahitian pearls are known for their dark body tones and unique overtones, when combined, create a stylish, contemporary looking pearl. But you might sometimes come across the term blue Tahitian pearls and wondered if they were a different type of Tahitian pearl?

The answer is no!

Although Tahitian pearls are commonly marked as black pearls, in reality, their body color ranges and comes in gray, blue, green, silver and purple, among others. Blue Tahitian pearls simply refer to Tahitian pearls with a blueish color to them. There can be two main types:

There aren’ any blue Tahitian pearls per se, but there are Tahitian pearls with blueish body tones or overtones!

Blueish Tahitian Pearls and Matching Colors

Blueish Tahitian pearls tend to complement:

  • Someone who has dark hair and pale to fair skin tone;
  • It goes perfectly with winter complexions;
  • Great for auburn or red-heads as the two colors contrast beautifully!

The bluish color of the dark Tahitian pearls stands out against pale and contrasting colors. When setting this type of pearl into jewelry, consider white gold for a contemporary look. This accentuates the overtone color and brings out the blue of the pearls.

If you pair with rose or yellow gold, the pearls will take on a vintage, elegant look but this pairing will tone down the blue and heighten the green tints in the pearl.

Tahitian pearls with blue overtones are stunning for evening engagements and formal events. Their color makes you look dressed up and because they’re not a common pearl color, they’re bound to be eye-catching and statement-making. Blueish Tahitian pearls make for a confident look.
